This page exists to help current Thursday families understand the structure of the session, the difference between the two groups, and the coaching pathway within the programme. It has been separated from the main Atlas Ballers website because the Thursday U12 session is not currently open for general registration.

Session Briefing

The purpose is to explain grouping, expectations, progression, and how players are placed.

Session Structure

Players are organised into two groups to keep the session productive and developmentally appropriate. The Competitive Group is coach-selected. The Development Group focuses on fundamentals, confidence, coachability, and progression.

Group 01 · Competitive

Competitive Group

For higher-skilled U12 players preparing for entry into private leagues such as MPBL, state-level tournaments such as the KLBA U13 Ruby Cup, and eventual promotion into the Atlas Ballers U14 Club pathway. Entry is by coach selection or promotion from the Development Group.

  • Preparation for private leagues, including MPBL

  • Structured team systems — offence, defence, spacing, and rotations
  • High-intensity game-scenario drills, 5v5, and competitive decision-making

Group 02 · Development

Development Group

For beginner and intermediate players building their game. Structured like the Atlas Ballers Academy, this group focuses on fundamentals, character, coachability, and earning a pathway into the Competitive Group.

  • Fundamentals: dribbling, shooting, footwork, defence
  • Structured drills and coached scrimmages each week
  • Individual progression benchmarks tracked by coaches

How the evening runs.

Arrival & Setup

Players arrive, change, and warm up independently. Coaches assign groups and prepare the gym layout.

6:00 PM
Training Begins — Both Groups

Competitive and Development split to their half of the court. Structured warm-up, skill drills, and team work begin simultaneously.

Scrimmage & Applied Work

Competitive group runs game scenarios and 5v5. Development group runs coached scrimmages with active coach intervention.

Cool Down & Debrief

Coaches close out with individual feedback, team notes, and next week’s focus areas for each group.

Players are released. Parents and guardians collect from the gym entrance.

Promotion Criteria

Development players are assessed after 2 consecutive months of attendance. Promotion requires demonstrated bilateral dribbling, layup proficiency, 60%+ mid-range accuracy, and consistent coachability — assessed by the head coach.

Mandatory Garden School Namelist

Garden International School requires Atlas Ballers to submit a verified namelist for campus access. This applies to all players, parents, guardians, and coaches attending the Thursday U12 Boys session.

Completion of this form is required for all attendees. This is not an open registration form. It is a campus access requirement for the closed Thursday U12 Boys programme at Garden International School.
