Atlas Ballers' U15 boys picked up a hard-fought 62-55 win over KL Scorpio X in KLBA Ruby Cup Group Stage action, holding on through a tight second half after a statement second quarter turned the game around.
It didn't start well. The Atlas starters came out rusty and found themselves down 7 points inside the first few minutes, unable to find any rhythm against a fast Scorpio side.
The response came from an unlikely place. Atlas' bench unit took over in the second quarter and completely took apart the Scorpio reserves, outscoring them to swing a 7-point deficit into a 13-14 point lead by half-time — the turning point of the match.
Scorpio X didn't fold. The third and fourth quarters were tightly contested, with Atlas never quite able to extend the margin back out, but the boys held their nerve and their lead all the way to the final buzzer.
